OUR MISSION

To lead the efforts to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in Greater Cincinnati through advocacy, education, and community outreach.

Empowering People Where They Are

The Center for Closing the Health Gap is a non-profit community-health grassroots organization, founded in 2004, committed to raising awareness about and eliminating racial and health disparities across Greater Cincinnati.

Through advocacy, education, and community outreach, we work collaboratively with hospitals, government, associations, and businesses to address prevalent health disparities and social determinants.

We focus on disease prevention, promoting healthier eating and enhancing the quality of life to make our neighborhoods and our people stronger through our many programs and initiatives.

The key to eliminating these disparities in the region is a collaborative initiative among health providers, community-based organizations, and the business community.

Racial and ethnic disparities are caused by a variety of overlying factors including social and environmental conditions, access to care and the structural aspects of the health care system (The Institute of Medicine). By collaborating with a variety of professional sectors and disciplines, we help identify regional solutions to complex health and social problems.

In partnership with the community, we can all make real change in our neighborhoods and city.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
