The Centers for Disease Control recently released their 2017 vital signs report on African American Health.

Here are a few highlights.

  •  The death rate for African Americans declined 25 percent between 1999 and 2015. (CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report)
  •  The health gap between black and whites are still sizeable. Black life expectancy is still nearly four years less than that of whites.
  •  The report also finds that blacks in their 20s, 30s, and 40s are more likely to live with or die from conditions that typically occur at older ages in whites.
