Screening Has Prevented Half a Million Colorectal Cancers

Colorectal cancer screening is one of the major successes in cancer care today. Research from the Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy, and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center at Yale Cancer Center found that an increasing number of men and women underwent cancer screenings that resulted in an estimated 500,000 cancers being prevented. These colorectal cancer screenings include fecal occult blood testing, sigmoidoscopies, and colonoscopies.
