Addressing Food Deserts in Cincinnati’s most impacted neighborhoods is a major priority. Food deserts are areas where healthy, affordable food is difficult to obtain. The Health Gap’s Annual Health Expo has reached more than 84,000 individuals since 2003. Nearly 30,000 health screenings have been conducted – 38% of which were for individuals who had not received a health check in past three years. Hands Helping Hands is formerly the American Red Cross Nurses and Ushers. Their mission is to volunteer their time and resources to any faith-based, non-profit organization whose purpose is to better serve communities by spreading the works and word of projects and programs geared toward lifestyle changes for the betterment – by offering someone a hand.
Community Health University is currently being developed to equip individuals with the tools to navigate and utilize the health care system efficiently.
