Renee Mahaffey Harris started her journey in eliminating health disparities with the Health Gap in 2008. As the recently appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, Mahaffey Harris continues to be a committed advocate for the underserved and marginalized populations in our region. She remains at the forefront of the issue of health disparities as The Health Gap continues to innovatively engage, eductate, and advocate to improve the quality of life for our communities. Under her leadership, the Health Gap helped steer the creation of the Food Desert Task Force of which she chaired, successfully jointly implemented the creation of the City of Cincinnati Health In All Policy, and launched groundbreaking community-based health initiatives in the Greater Cincinnati region.
Before joining the Health Gap, Harris held extensive executive leadership roles in the private sector including her tenure as Vice President of Community Development with PNC Bank and as Director of the Greater Cincinnati Local Initiative Support Corporation. Harris has had roles in the public sector working with Former Congressman Charles Luken and Former Ohio Secretary of State Sherrod Brown.
Mahaffey Harris’ dedication to the community extends far beyond her work advocating for the marginalized and disenfranchised. She is currently a member of the Ohio Statewide Health Disparities Collaborative, the Greater Cincinnati Oral Health Coalition, and The Taft Lecture Series. She a has served on numerous Boards including the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Council, Cincinnati Parks Foundation the Greater Cincinnati Urban League, Home Opportunities Made Equal and the YWCA. Ebony Magazine also named Mahaffey Harris as one of the 50 Leaders of The Future.
