Center for Closing the Health Gap Cancels 2020 Health Expo due to Coronavirus Emergency
CINCINNATI, OHIO – MARCH 16, 2020 – The Center for Closing the Health Gap has canceled its 202 Health Expo over concerns related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) national emergency. The event was planned for April 25, 2020 in Washington Park. The Health Gap has already scheduled next year’s event for April 24, 2021.
The Health Expo debuted in 2004 and is the Health Gap’s signature event — an annual capstone on the organization’s critical initiatives working to address and end health inequities in Cincinnati’s most vulnerable, minority populations. More than 15,000 attendees were expected to attend this year’s Expo.
“The Health Expo is such an important event that saves lives in our community every year,” said Renee Mahaffey Harris, Health Gap president, and CEO. “But with the current emergency, we cannot risk spreading the virus to the already vulnerable populations that we serve. We’ll continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and state and local health officials and will be a resource for our community as much as we’re able during this stressful time.”
